
Bhubaneswar, July 22 (IANS) The Odisha Government on Tuesday approved 23 major industrial projects worth Rs 4,573.87 crore with the potential to generate 22,873 employment opportunities across the state, marking another significant step towards achieving the vision of ‘Samruddha Odisha’ by 2036.
The projects received clearance at the 148th meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg.
“The approved projects represent a diverse mix of sectors including Information Technology and ITES, Green Energy Equipment, Battery and Energy Storage, Chemicals, Textile and Apparel, Food Processing, Steel Downstream, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, Infrastructure, Healthcare and Tourism, reflecting Odisha’s continued efforts to promote balanced industrial development and attract investments in both traditional and emerging sectors,” the state govt informed in an official statement.
It also added that the projects will be established across 11 districts: Angul, Balangir, Kataka, Ganjam, Jajpur, Kendujhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Puri and Sundargarh, further expanding industrial activities across different regions of the State and creating employment opportunities at the local level.
Among the biggest investments, ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt Ltd will set up an alkaline electrolyser manufacturing unit with a production capacity of up to 3 GW per annum in Ganjam at an investment of Rs 778 crore, generating 480 jobs.
The project is expected to strengthen Odisha’s position in the green hydrogen and renewable energy value chain. In the IT sector, HCL Technologies Ltd will establish a Global Development Centre in Khordha with an investment of Rs 730 crore, creating 6,000 employment opportunities and further boosting Odisha’s growing technology ecosystem. The textile and apparel sector attracted significant investments.
SAPL Industries Pvt Ltd will establish a ready-made garment manufacturing unit in Puri with an investment of Rs 254 crore, generating 4,570 jobs. Richa Global Exports Pvt Ltd and SPL Industries Ltd will also set up garment manufacturing units in Puri, creating another 5,500 jobs.
In the chemical sector, Transpek Industry Ltd will establish a speciality chemicals manufacturing facility in Ganjam with an investment of Rs 343 crore, while Growing Tree Oil and Refinery Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 250 crore in an integrated manufacturing complex in Nuapada comprising solvent extraction, oil refining, cashew processing, starch-based products, animal feed, a distillation unit and a 9 MW co-generation plant.
The healthcare sector also received a major boost, with DION Riverside Township Pvt Ltd securing approval to establish a 300-bed multi-speciality hospital in Kataka with an investment of Rs 275.89 crore, creating 941 jobs.
The government asserted that the projects, spread across multiple districts, reflect Odisha’s continued focus on attracting quality investments through a streamlined Single Window Clearance system while promoting industrial diversification, employment generation and balanced regional development.
